About you:

Dr. Cortes-Gonzalez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He has a Bachelor of Science in Medical Microbiology from the University of Puerto Rico and a Medical Doctorate from UAG School of Medicine. He’s drawn by the complexity of diseases and the importance of understanding the pathophysiology to provide life-saving therapy. Dr. Cortes-Gonzalez has a strong focus on patient-centered care and is passionate about Cardiology. Medicine offers him the opportunity to connect and develop a relationship with patients on a personal level, which he feels is Intellectually stimulating and emotionally rewarding. His other interests are sports, traveling, and spending time with family.

I chose Broward Health for several reasons; some include the vast diversity of the population, which provides exposure to innumerable pathologies. Faculty expertise, with their unique approach to teaching and mentorship in a healthy environment, is perfect to gain knowledge and hone clinical skills. As a hands-on physician in Broward Health, I can develop confidence, autonomy, and decision-making capacity to thrive and reach my full potential as the physician I have always dreamed of becoming.
