Welcome from Program Director
Welcome to the Broward Health Psychiatry Residency at Broward Health Imperial Point Medical Center. Our program is dedicated to developing psychiatrists who will be leaders in the community. Our mission is to train physicians of diverse backgrounds and talents to become representatives of change by enabling our graduates to transform the field of psychiatry by providing compassionate, evidence-based care for diverse patient populations.
The Psychiatry Residency Program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience that prepares our residents to meet the demands of contemporary psychiatric practice. Our program has an emphasis on treatment in a community psychiatry setting and in serving patients with chronic, severe mental illness. Through the empathic treatment of mental health issues in our community, we aim to improve the overall health, wellness, and social support of our patient population. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of expertise in medical knowledge, skills, scholarly activities, and professional competencies in a community-based learning environment. The program provides residents the opportunity to learn and explore the many facets of Psychiatry, including addiction, geriatric, inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liasion, ER, research, neuromodulation, community, crisis management, and child/adolescent areas of focus.
Our program aims to graduate ethical psychiatrists who are knowledgeable and competent in the biological, psychological, and sociocultural bases of psychiatry.
